Project Description:

Edisto Island Open Land Trust (EIOLT) is requesting $323,000 in Rural Greenbelt funds as reimbursement for its purchase of 2.5 acres located off Highway 174 on Edisto Island. EIOLT acquired the parcel to expand the Maxcy Farm Nature Preserve (a previously approved Greenbelt project), provide additional buffering, and support their plans for habitat restoration, environmental education, and public access. In addition, the purchase helps protect the viewshed of the Edisto Island National Scenic Byway.
